Professor Suro joins Haynes Foundation Board of Trustees

The John Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation announced that journalism professor Roberto Suro has been elected elected to its Board of Trustees.

Suro joins Rick Hernandez, president and CEO of Inter-Con Security Systems, as new Board members.

“Rick Hernandez and Roberto Suro are accomplished leaders in their fields, and we are very pleased by their addition to our Board,” said Board President Jane G. Pisano. “They add depth and breadth to our Board and reflect the Haynes Foundation’s commitment to social science research that can positively impact public policy for Los Angeles.”

Suro holds a joint appointment at USC Annenberg and the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. He is also director of the Tomás Rivera Policy Institute, an interdisicplinary university research center exploring the challenges and opportunities of demographic diversity in the 21st century global city. Suro's latest book is Writing Immigration: Scholars and Journalists in Dialogue, co-edited with Marcelo Suarez-Orozco and Vivian Louie. He is a non-resident Senior Fellow of the Brookings Institution, where his most recent publication is "Immigration and Poverty in America's Suburbs" (2011) with Audrey Singer and Jill H. Wilson.
