Research at USC Annenberg can be best understood as components of four different initiatives:
- Public Interest Initiative: Focused on such issues as improving public discourse and political campaigns; using interactive technologies to improve public health. USC Annenberg is a leading research institution devoted to health communication, and is a member of the Coalition for Health Communication.
- Global Initiative: Studies how the emergence of new communication technology, regulation and infrastructure changes government policies and patterns of communication internationally and examines the social and economic consequences of these changes.
- Entertainment Initiative: Explores questions of entertainment content and its social impact, as well as entertainment media as a window into culture and society.
- Technology Initiative: Investigates questions of technology's impact on democracy, governance and public policy; workplace and business practices; production of, and access to, news and information; and community and diverse populations.
More often than not,
student and
faculty research projects fall into more than one category, synergizing USC Annenberg's strategic initiatives through our work.
