Job Title: Account Executive (The Phelps Group)
USC Course of study: Communication Management master's degree

Describe your current occupation:
My current title is Team Manager at The Phelps Group. This means that I'm responsible for project execution and coordinating the team's core group of specialists which include copywriters, art directors, public relations, direct mail and interactive. Depending on my clients' needs my team will implement print, interactive, television and radio broadcast projects. My current clients include Crystal Cruises, Tahiti Tourisme and Air Tahiti Nui. I have also worked on such clients as Whole Foods Markets, City of Hope, Foundation for Junior Blind and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. I have specialties in co-op media, interactive production and email marketing.

How did you get your first job?
I began interning at The Phelps Group after having an informational interview there. I loved the self-directed team concept and felt it was an environment I could thrive in. Unfortunately they were not hiring at the time so I had to intern for a while even though I had prior experience and a masters degree.

How did your experience at Annenberg help?
I feel that my master's degree from USC Annenberg really helped me develop as a strategic thinker. I learned a lot of specialized skills that I've been able to bring to the agency which helped me become a strong team member and have advanced my career.

What advice do you have for current Annenberg School students in your occupation?
Try to intern in your field whenever possible! When looking for a position, try to do as many informational interviews as possible.

In your opinion, what is the Annenberg Advantage?
The Annenberg Advantage is the high quality professors and students. I learned from people who are the best in their fields. I worked beside students who I currently work with in my industry.
