Kelly Kahl

Job Title: Executive Vice President, Program Planning & Scheduling (CBS Television)
USC Course of study: Communication Management master's degree

Describe your current occupation:
I schedule all primetime series, specials and movies for CBS, as well as coordinate programming across our news, sports and entertainment divisions.

How did you get there?
Prior to joining CBS, I worked as the director of research at Warner Brothers Television, where I conducted qualitative and quantitative research on more than 100 WBTV pilots and series. My boss at the time, Les Moonves, brought me over to CBS after becoming president of the entertainment division in 1995.

How did you get your first job?
The career center at Annenberg helped get me a lead on an internship at Lorimar (now Warner Bros.) television.

What advice do you have for current Annenberg School students in your occupation?
Meet as many people in the field you're interested in as you can.  Take advantage of the numerous, and often friendly Annenberg grads around town.

In your opinion, what is the Annenberg Advantage?
Clearly, the wide variety of classes at Annenberg help students be better prepared for a rapidly changing field where new rules are being written every day.
