Job Title: Associate Producer, ABC's "20/20"
USC Course of study: M.A., Broadcast Journalism

Describe your current occupation:
I help produce stories for ABC News' "20/20" and ABC Special Reports.

How did you get there?
I interned at KABC in Los Angeles as a student at the USC Annenberg School. I maintained contacts made there and parlayed them into a job first with NewsOne in Los Angeles and then to ABC News Magazines in New York.

How did you get your first job?
I passed my resume around to everyone I knew at KABC and even asked friends and family members if they could spread the word that I was looking for a job.

How did your experience at Annenberg help?
My experience at Annenberg helped me to obtain great internship experiences and allowed me to make the professional contacts that later helped me get the job I have today.

What advice do you have for current Annenberg School students in your occupation?
I’d advise current Annenberg students to get involved in as many activities as possible – write articles, produce packages for the student newscast, get internships at independent production houses and larger TV networks alike. Make as many contacts as possible and maintain them carefully. These people will be your connections to jobs and projects after you graduate!

In your opinion, what is the Annenberg Advantage?
I think the Annenberg Advantage is the network alumni from the program. The faculty and staff at Annenberg are excellent as well. Small class sizes allow for more quality learning time and I think these things combined are what make Annenberg an advantageous place to be.
