Laughing Matters: Soviet Propaganda in Khrushchev's Thaw, Posters from the Collection of Monroe Price and Aimée Brown Price
Annenberg Room 207 and 2nd Floor West Lobby, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

This exhibit, which is open for viewing in USC Annenberg's Second Floor Gallery from January 10 to May 20, 2011, demonstrates the changing nature of official political communication in Soviet Russia during the "thaw" period of post-Stalinist liberation starting in 1956. The installation of 16 posters focuses on the changes in political rhetoric and iconography at a time when the Soviet Union encouraged an unprecedented "warming up" in all social and cultural spheres, and struggled to define a new image of Soviet collective purpose.
