Join students and faculty for a presentation by
William H. Melody, founding director of LIRNE.NET and the World Dialogue on Regulation (WDR). He is a visiting professor at the Center for Communication, Media and ICT (CMI) at the Copenhagen Institute of Technology, the London School of Economics and the University of Witwatersrand. His Topic: “Shaping the new knowledge economy: The uncertain search for policy and regulatory foundations.” From Dr. Melody: “The early developmental stages of the new knowledge economy have been shaped by liberalization and deregulation as many industrial era regulatory policies have been released. This has fostered rapid ICT innovation and growth, the convergence of technologies and industries, the unbundling and expansion of markets, the launching of a new network infrastructure (the Internet) and increasing financial instability.” Lunch will be served.
