Join Dean Ernest J. Wilson III and USC's School of Policy, Planning and Development's Dean Jack Knott for a public lecture on “Interdisciplinarity, innovation and informing the public” featuring Dr. Craig Calhoun. Dr. Calhoun is president of the Social Science Research Council, University Professor of the Social Sciences at New York University and the founding director of NYU’s Institute for Public Knowledge. Dr. Calhoun will address issues related to "necessary knowledge", i.e. the establishment of a robust, integrated infrastructure of knowledge production in and around issues of media, communications policy, and the public sphere in public and democratic processes, as it pertains to policy and system changes. He also will examine how new fields of study, such as environmental studies, gender studies, biotechnology, etc., grow through innovation. This event is cosponsored by the USC School of Policy, Planning and Development under the auspices of the Holt Visiting Professorship in Communications and Public Policy. Click here to RSVP.
