Beyond the Spotlight: Sports and the Media
Montgomery Ross Fisher Building, Room 340, 7:00 p.m.

The Annenberg Latino Student Association and the Annenberg Student Communication Association present a panel discussion with student athletes include 2008 Beijing Olympic gold and silver medalist Rebecca Soni, Heisman hopeful Mark Sanchez, and hoops star Taj Gibson. The panel will also consist of retired athletes, professors, and professionals from media and sports. In today’s world of 24/7 sports coverage it is the media that affects athletes and their performances. Topics covered include: “ how are sports headlines on ESPN altering the way athletes perform; how are sports organizations run and operated; how does the media mold the images of athletes from the past, present, and future?” Refreshments will be served.
