Join University professor Geoffrey Cowan, director of the Center on Communication Leadership, for a briefing on the launch of the Institute for Photographic Empowerment (IPE), a new project of the Center on Communication Leadership, USC Center on Public Diplomacy and Venice Arts. The Institute will sponsor research and instruction, offer programs and serve as a resource for a "growing worldwide movement that teaches documentary photography to people who have traditionally not had a voice--particularly poor children and those in the developing world." Speakers include IPE co-founders Lynn Warshafsky, executive director and founder of Venice Arts, Neal Baer M.D.,award winning television writer and executive producer of Law and Order: SVU, Jim Hubbard, documentary photographer and founder of Shooting Back; and communication school director Larry Gross.
