The Big Lie? News, Media and the Fiction of Nonfiction

USC's Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities, University Libraries, Office of the Provost, the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences in partnership with USC Annenberg present a daylong conference featuring news professionals, humorists, and novelists examining the intersection of fiction and nonfiction at a time when the boundaries between news and entertainment seem increasingly porous. Featured guests include Geoffrey Cowan, dean, USC Annenberg School for Communication; Marjorie Miller, foreign editor, Los Angeles Times; Judy Muller, ABC News correspondent and National Public Radio commentator; Richard Stolley, senior editorial adviser, Time, Inc.; Narda Zacchino, deputy editor, San Francisco Chronicle; Robert Scheer, syndicated columnist, author, radio host; Andy Borowitz, comedian, actor, and writer; Harry Shearer, actor, author, comedian, radio personality; Marianne Wiggins, novelist.
