Sherry Turkle, author of Life on the Screen, keynotes a two-day conference bringing together journalists, academics, cyberculture advocates, policy makers, science fiction visionaries to examine how technologies have been envisioned throughout history and the social impact of new technologies. Participants include Lord Asa Briggs, Larry Irving, Langdon Winner, John Perry Barlow, Mitchel Resnick, Bob Cringely, Wendy Grossman, Katie Hafner, Carolyn Marvin, David Nye, Vivian Sobchack, Lynn Spigel, and Peter Lyman, who will address issues of privacy, censorship, prediction, community, media discourse, and visions of the future.
