INFORMATION SESSIONS
Information sessions are held throughout the fall and spring semesters for students interested in applying to the Annenberg School for Communication.

The information session on August 26 will be held in ASC 204. COMM and JOUR faculty will be present to discuss curriculum.
All other sessions will be held in Annenberg Student Services - ASC 140 (located on the first floor of ASC, off of the East Lobby).
ADMISSION STANDARDSCommunication MajorTo be eligible to apply to the B.A. in Communication, students must have:
- 32 units completed at USC (16 units at USC for transfer students)
- AP and IB units not included in unit totals
- 3.0 GPA at USC recommended

Communication MinorTo be eligible to apply for a minor in Communication, students must have:
- A declared major
- Sophomore standing (32 units completed)
- Minimum USC GPA of 2.0 (transfer courses do not count in the USC GPA)
- Minors are not eligible to secure internships through Annenberg's Career Development Office.
Download the ApplicationJournalism MajorAdmission to the School of Journalism is selective. When reviewing applications, the Admission Committee considers many factors, such as academic performance, experience in the field of journalism and solid writing skills. The statement of intent is weighed heavily in the application process. To be competitive, applicants should have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Students must complete at least one semester of USC course work to be eligible to apply.
Download the ApplicationAdvertising Minor- The minor consists of 24 units and takes a minimum of four semesters, starting in a fall semester, to complete.
- A limited number of students are admitted to the advertising minor on a space-available basis each semester.
- Students must have a declared major and at least a 2.0 cumulative USC GPA to be eligible.
- Minors are not eligible to secure internships through Annenberg’s Career Development Office.
- Declared advertising minors need not take BUAD 307 to be eligible for upper division MKT courses.

To apply to the School of Communication or the School of Journalism, students must print and fill out the application above or pick up an application form available in the racks outside Annenberg Student Services. Students must return the application with the requested support documentation to the Annenberg Student Services Office (ASC 140).
Applications are accepted for both the fall and spring semesters.
Applications are always due on the first Friday of the semester by 5 p.m. Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed!Students are notified as to whether or not they have been admitted to COMM by the end of the third week of classes and to JOUR by the end of the fourth week of classes.
D-Clearance- D-clearance is required for most COMM core classes (COMM 201, 202, 204, 301 and 322).
- D-clearance is required for all JOUR core classes.
- D-clearance for non-majors is always immediately following mandatory advising for majors and minors. Students can find out the dates for the non-major D-clearance days by calling Annenberg Student Services at (213) 740-0900 or by viewing the mandatory advisement calendar.
- COMM D-clearance for non-majors is based on previous COMM classes taken and in progress, as well as the students’ cumulative USC GPA.
AdvisingAnnenberg advisers will not be able to meet with non-majors during our mandatory advisement period (February 19 - April 7). However, we encourage students interested in applying to either school to attend an information session during this time. Students interested in taking JOUR courses next fall can come in on April 8. Students interested in taking COMM courses next fall can come in on April 9. You do not need to come in if classes do not require D-clearance.
