Requirements for Eligibility

• Candidates must be mid-career critics, reporters, writers, columnists, editors, broadcasters or producers who specialize in arts, culture or entertainment for an online, newspaper, magazine or broadcast media organization.
• You must have at least three years of steady professional arts journalism in your background.
• The program is NOT intended for entry-level journalists, students or journalism educators.
• Freelancers and/or self-employed individuals who regularly publish online, in print or over the airwaves ARE eligible, as long as their application is accompanied by a letter of recommendation by a newsroom editor/manager at an organization that regularly publishes or broadcasts their work OR by an experienced journalist who can speak to their work in convincing detail.
• This is a national and international program, applicants from anywhere MAY apply. Typically one to two finalists come from outside the United States.
• Advanced degrees or specialized training in the arts are NOT required.
